Safe Child Africa exists so all children in Africa can live happy and safe lives and grow up without fear of violence, abuse, or neglect.
Meet the team
Dr. Emilie Secker
It's Emilie's job to run our child protection projects which support children who have suffered abuse, as well as our advocacy and campaigns projects which help to prevent the abuse happening in the first place. Outside the office, Emilie combines her love of orange and animals by spending time with her collection of ginger cats. Emilie is currently setting up a network of campaigners to help fight for the rights of children, so if you would like to help please get in touch with Emilie.
Finance and Administration Manager
Ade is the latest addition to the Safe Child Africa team. Not only does Ade bring with him a wealth of experience and expertise in the sector, previously working for Age UK and Church Action on Poverty, he is the resident expert on Nigerian cuisine and makes great spicy jollof rice. Ade ensures that all of your kind donations are safely received and works hard to streamline our office procedures to make every penny count. Outside of Safe Child Africa, Ade is the Chairman of the Nigerian Community in Manchester, a governor of a local high school and Chief Executive of Nigeria-UK Business and Investment Forum. For all things financial and legal, please get in touch with Ade.
Fundraising and Communications Manager
With over 15 years of experience, Deb brings her fundraising knowledge and expertise to the Safe Child Africa team. Having worked for a number of small and large charities, Deb is looking to help Safe Child Africa deliver a number of innovative projects which will enable us to reach more children which desperately need our help. As well as helping to grow our impact, Deb also teaches music and movement to preschool children and takes up other creative pursuits such as dressmaking and knitting. Deb is currently trying to master the art of crochet, so if you’d like to give Deb a few lessons, or chat to her about anything else, please get in touch here.
Community Fundraising Manager
Lisa’s role is to work with volunteers, community groups and individuals who wish to raise funds or support the charity in often exciting, creative and committed ways. “Being part of the team at Safe Child Africa is a privilege. To work alongside such enthusiastic supporters to raise money through fundraising events and then to personally see the difference this makes to the lives of the children we care for, truly makes it one of the best jobs in the world!”
Aimee helps our two schools in Nigeria run smoothly and provides scholarships for the children who attend. She also works with schools in the UK, giving workshops about Nigeria, education, and enterprise. She also looks after our IT for us, so you'll probably find her tangled in the cables! Aimee’s currently developing a new range of materials for use in UK schools, to get your school involved or to find out more about her role, get in touch here.
